6-year-old sustains minor injuries in accident

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Lorena M. Reyes, 19, of Marshall was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the roadway and for a child restraint violation Monday afternoon, Dec. 31, after she and a minor child were involved in a one-car accident on Route H near County Road 225 in Saline County.

According to a report from Missouri State Highway Patrol, Reyes was the driver of a 1993 Toyota Corolla that ran off the right shoulder and then off the left side of the roadway when the driver over-corrected.

The car struck a ditch, ran through a fence and came to rest in a field, sustaining extensive damage.

Injuries to her passenger, 6-year-old Andrew T. Pesy of Nelson, were minor; he was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment. Reyes was not injured. Both were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.
