Gladys J. Rice, 86, of Marshall, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Rick Aulgur officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Blue Lick Cemetery south of Marshall. Pallbearers will be Mark Enloe, Jeff Enloe, Chad Enloe, Kee Rice, Danny Deer and Gerald Cunningham. Memorials may be made to The Gideons or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice. Born May 24, 1921, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Roy Talbott and Ethel Short Talbott Sperry. On June 2, 1941, in Sedalia, she married Jewell A. Rice, who survives of the home. She returned to Marshall in 1962, moving from Independence, and retired from Banquet Foods. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Marshall.
Additional survivors include her three children, Charlotte A. Akers of Van Alstyne, Texas, Joel M. "Mike" Rice of Marshall and Randy L. Rice of Shoreline, Wash.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Deer of Marshall; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Blackwell.
