A Sweet Springs resident, already under scrutiny for allegedly driving while intoxicated, driving while his license was suspended and with two warrants outstanding from earlier incidents, added another charge to the list Friday, Dec. 21, when he tried to bribe the arresting officer.

According to an incident report from Saline County Sheriff's Department, the suspect told the officer, "I have money. You can have it if you will just let me go."

Instead, the deputy issued citations for the traffic offenses and turned the man over to Saline County Justice Facility, where he remains, pending a review of the incident by the prosecuting attorney.
