Commission approves insurance renewal measure

Friday, December 14, 2007
In regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 27, the Saline County Commission approved payment of a renewal premium of $133,800 to Meuschke Insurance Agency for property and liability insurance.

The premium represents an increase of $1,000 over last year's policy, reflecting the increased value of the property insured.

Commissioner Becky Plattner introduced Billy Charlton of Marshall, a student from Saline County Career Center (SCCC), who began working an 80-hour practicum with the commission on Monday as part of her studies at SCCC.

Guests at today's meeting included Brad Hintz, juvenile officer for Saline County, and Robin McGinnity-Connelly, executive director of the Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in the 15th judicial circuit, which includes Saline and Lafayette counties.

Connelly made a brief presentation about CASA activities in Saline County, and thanked commissioners for their continued support.

In other business, the board approved budget line item additions for repair of three bridges (bridge numbers 41538, 41539 and 41540) totaling about $107,000. These are the fourth, fifth and sixth bridge repair projects for the county in the recent past, with at least one additional bridge to be added at a later date.
