Mary Elizabeth Gauldin Rimmer, 89, of Marshall, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted and Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery near Marshall. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Buddy Rimmer, Kenny Rimmer, David Patrick Rimmer, Jeff Rimmer, Jim Ruff and Frank Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Boedeker, Tony DelRoss, Kirk Gauldin, Larry Gauldin, Jim Kiser, Maurice Moore, Brian Scogin, Roger Schroeder and Tom Shirley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
Born May 24, 1918, in rural Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Alva Clifton Gauldin and Sara Eliza Kiser Gauldin. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a 1936 graduate of Malta Bend High School. On Feb. 27, 1939, she married Stephen Harvey Rimmer, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2002. She was a homemaker all of her life. During World War II, she worked at International Shoe Factory. She was a member of First Baptist Church and its Dorcas Sunday School Class and also a member of the Malta Bend American Legion Auxiliary and Union Extension Club.
Survivors include two sons, Steve "Smoky" Rimmer and wife, Linda, and David C. Rimmer and wife, Marilyn, all of Marshall; one brother, David Gauldin and wife, Betsy, of rural Malta Bend; one sister, Evelyn Lynch of Blue Springs; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
