Alvah Ruth Witcher Martin, 84, of Nelson, formerly of Greeley, Colo., died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Born June 10, 1923, in rural Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Witcher and Minnie Riggins Witcher Owens. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. She was married to Stanley Jack Martin, who preceded her in death. She had lived in rural Nelson since October of 2007, moving from Greeley. She was a homemaker and realtor. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include one niece, Carolyn Boatright of rural Nelson; two great-nieces, Melissa Vesser and Cynthia Donnell, both of rural Nelson; one great-nephew, Shawn Jones and his wife, Melissa, of Warrensburg; and four great-great-nieces, Mikayla Vesser, Morgan Vesser, McKenna Vesser and Lauren Jones.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Sue Jones; one nephew, C.W. Jones; and one great-niece, Caitlin Donnell.
