SLATER -- Defending Lewis and Clark Conference champion Westran sprinted out to a 23-2 lead to begin Friday's game at Slater, which wound up as a 60-25 blitz.

Junior Becca Schemmer led the way for the Lady Hornets, who out-shot the Purple, 50.0 to 19.6 percent, with 20 points. Westran (6-0, 1-0 L&C) also got 16 points from senior Kayla Rice and 12 from sophomore Rachael Richards.

Sophomore Niki Kruger had six points to lead the Lady Wildcats, who got 11 points off the bench -- five from freshman Saria Leimkuehler. Slater (1-4, 0-2) is due to host Malta Bend today.
