The first of three holiday performances at Benton Elementary School will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 7

The Mid-Day Optimist Club will sponsor a chance for kids to visit Santa from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Wood & Huston Bank Community Room on the north side of the square. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take pictures of kids with Santa.

The annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade steps off on the Marshall square at 7 p.m.

The Marshall Park Board will turn on the lights for its "Winter Wonderland" in Indian Foothills Park at 3 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 8

The Marshall Community Chorus will perform a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Marshall. A second performance is scheduled at the same location for Sunday at 3 p.m.

The annual Christmas Cookie Festival will begin expanding waistlines all over town at 9 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. The event is sponsored by the Lutheran Women's League.

The Marshall Optimist Club sponsors "Breakfast with Santa" for area children. Tickets are $5 and reservations can be made by Dec. 4. Call (660) 886-9295, (660) 886-8682, (660) 886-5258 or (660) 831-0757.

A tour of five Slater homes decorated for the Christmas season starts at noon. Tickets are available at Square Corner and the Senior Center in Marshall and in Slater at the Senior Center, Slater General Store, State Bank of Slater or at any of the tour homes for $10. Children under 12 are admitted free. A map and directions to the homes is printed on the tickets. All proceeds benefit Slater Senior Center.

Sunday, Dec. 9

The Friends of Saline County and the Friends of Jim will sponsor the Ninth Annual Christmas Homes Tour in Marshall from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and can be obtained at Court Street Classics, Square Corner, Marshall Chamber of Commerce and Rod's Hallmark until noon Saturday, Dec. 8. Tickets will be available at the homes the day of the tour for $10 per person. Proceeds benefit Jim the Wonder Dog Memorial Garden.
