E. Leone Smith, 86, of Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Tim Biesemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery, near Elmwood. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Show-Me Christian Youth Home or Pisgah Cemetery.
Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Lot Basil Roller and Opal Barnes Roller. She was a graduate of Seligman High School in Seligman, where she was class valedictorian. On March 23, 1941, she married Hugh William Smith Jr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1992. She had lived in Sweet Springs most of her life, where she worked at Chemical Bank for 25 years. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer. She was one of the first licensed emergency medical technicians for the Sweet Springs Ambulance District and later served on that board as well as the Sweet Springs Library Board. She was a charter member of Sweet Springs Saddle Club and a volunteer at Sweet Springs Villa.
Leone is survived by one son, Ed Smith of Versailles; one daughter, Carol Kelz of Sweet Springs; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn and Glenn Roller; and one sister, Gladys Bond.
