The Missouri Valley College women's basketball shot high-percentage shots for a high percentage Saturday during its 92-76 Heart of America Conference home win over Graceland.
The Lady Vikings made 59.3 percent of its field-goal attempts to take a 12-point lead into halftime, then shot a commanding 67.6 percent from the floor the rest of the way to subdue the visitors. Valley's three main forwards -- seniors Bonnie Johnson and Nicole Allison and junior Holly Siverling -- were a combined 28 of 41 from the field.
Junior Keturah Spotwood had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Yellowjackets (6-3, 1-1 HAAC), but fouled out trying to contain the MVC posts.
Johnson wound up with 27 points, Siverling had 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots, and Allison finished with 18 points. Sophomore Jordanne Walker scored 12 points and dished out nine of the Lady Vikings' 33 assists.
Valley (4-1, 2-0) will undergo a major early season test Tuesday when it hosts top-ranked College of the Ozarks, which returns four starters from a club which reached the NAIA Division II championship game a year ago.
