Emma Irene Ward, 93, of Glasgow, formerly of Gilliam, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Beverly Living Center in Glasgow.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Gilliam Cemetery. Rev. Penny Smith will officiate. Pallbearers will be Damon Thomason, Jeremy Korte, Chuck Ward, Johnnie Thomason, Ben Korte, George Ward and Scotty Stockman. Friends may call Thursday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or Beverly Living Center.
Born Feb. 1, 1914, in Pana, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Hay Proffitt. On October 8, 1943, in St. Louis, she married Damon Albert Ward; he preceded her in death on June 19, 1980. She was a member of Pana United Methodist Church in Pana. She worked as a physical therapist at Marshall Habilitation Center until her retirement. She moved to Gilliam from Pana in 1965.
She is survived by one son, William F. Ward of Carrollton; two daughters, Mary Stockman and her husband, John, of Malta Bend and Beth Ann Korte and her husband, Bernie, of Glasgow; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, one granddaughter and a sister.
