Glenn Joseph Barr, 67, of Gladstone, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at his home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd., Kansas City, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Don Knepper, Greg Knepper, Chris Knepper, Jon Brownfield, Jack Slocum and Montie Mikle. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Biggs, Wayne McCarthy, Dick Kincaid, Ralph Kincaid, Kenny Ashcraft, Garry Lunsford and Richard Turner. Born June 6, 1940, in Marshall, he was the son of Earl J. and Gladys Ruff Barr. He was employed by Safeway Stores and Food Barn for over 30 years as a store manager, district manager and executive vice president. After leaving Food Barn, he worked for Bob's IGA of Kansas City as operations manager. Following retirement from the grocery business, he became part owner of Briggs Pest Control for the last 10 years of his life. He also served as a member of the Missouri National Guard from 1959 to 1961. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers.
He is survived by his former spouse, Carol Barr; two sons, James Matthew Barr and Todd D. Barr and his wife, Amy; two grandchildren, David and Katie Barr; one sister, Jennifer Barr Knepper and her husband, Dr. Don Knepper, of Liberty; and several nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Phillip Greg Barr; his sister, Carolyn Brownfield; and brother-in-law, Don Brownfield.
