George C. Pannell, 84, of Marshall, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Mike Brown and Rev. Vernon Maxtedofficiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be held in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born Aug. 19, 1923, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Clarence A. Pannell and Hester B. Retherford Pannell. On June 9, 1944, he married Juanita G. Johnston, who preceded him in death on July 3, 2003. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and attended grade school in Saline and Cass counties. He was an auto mechanic and service manager for McKinney Motor Company for 28 years and retired in 1986 from Marshall Municipal Utilities Water Plant after 14 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon and an elder and was a member of the New Century Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy A. Huff of Marshall; two step-granddaughters; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter and one step-grandson.
