Mary Evanell Thomas, 85, of Marshall, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Peninsula Cemetery, Blackwater. Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Haynie and Mary Ryan Haynie. On June 1, 1938, she married Howard E. Thomas, who preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2003. She had lived in Marshall since 1990, moving from Pilot Grove and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Brownfield and J.I. Vogelsmeier of rural Sweet Springs and Linda Hazlett and her husband, Charles, of Lawson; one son, Larry Thomas and his wife, Mary, of Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Karen Einspahr, Debbie Adcock, Kim Whitlock, Carla Wirths, John Potter, Chris Thomas and Dana Thomas; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley Einspahr, Kristan Einspahr, Kara Pointer, Katie Pointer, Andrea Adcock, Jacob Adcock, Jordan Potter, Jessica Potter, Jocelyn Potter and Zachary Potter; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Haynie of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Thomas; one grandson, Thomas Jason Potter; two sisters, Marvell Ott and Ola Chambers; and four brothers, Jack Haynie, Bill Haynie, L.G. Haynie and Carl "Bo" Haynie.
