The first will be held Monday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the roadway improvements to U.S. Highway 65 at the junction of Route N -- commonly known as Clyde's Corner -- east of Malta Bend.
The improvements included constructing nearly 1,050 feet of new roadway, as well as a new intersection for Route N and County Road 421 to soften the sharp curve east of Malta Bend.
The second will be Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the roadway improvements to the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and College Street in Marshall.
The newly-constructed turn lanes and the additional signals should have a positive impact on traffic flow and improve safety at this intersection, according to MoDOT officials.
State and local dignitaries including Bob Hagedorn of U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton's office, state Sen. Bill Stouffer and state Rep. Joe Aull are expected to attend both ceremonies.
Malta Bend Mayor Harrell Boedeker and Saline County Commissioner Norvelle Brown will make brief comments prior to the Clyde's Corner ribbon-cutting.
Marshall Mayor Connie Latimer and Roy Hunter, executive director of the Marshall-Saline Development Corp. will make brief comments prior to the College Street ribbon-cutting.
The public is invited to attend the ceremonies.
