Cecilia Lakenburger, 93, of Marshall, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Kevin Gormley officiating. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with visitation following until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Jan. 4, 1914, in Germantown, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Theodore Gerling and Christine Dust Gerling. On July 7, 1934, in Marydale, Ill., she married Al Lakenburger, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1972. She had lived in Marshall since 1940, moving from Germantown, Ill., and retired from Banquet Foods in Marshall. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include one son, David Lakenburger and his wife, Sara, of Marshall; one daughter, Joann Schupp and her husband, Don, of rural Boonville; eight grandchildren, Sandra Lakenburger, Gary Lakenburger, Susan Bishop, Glenn Lakenburger, Julie Chan, John Bliss, Tanya Rogers and Tom Lakenburger; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Murray and John Schupp; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Gerling of Carlyle, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Tom Lakenburger; one brother, Ervin Gerling; and one sister, Eugenia Clark.
