Flood warning/Thursday, October 18

The National Weather Service has extended flood warnings for several rivers in the area after several days of periodic torrential rain.

Another strong storm system may bring the threat of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to the region on Sunday night and into early Monday.

The Blackwater River near Blue Lick

(flood stage: 24 feet)

Until Friday evening, Oct. 19. At 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, the stage was 23.0 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue to rise to near 24.5 feet by this afternoon. the river will fall below flood stage by this evening.

The Missouri River at Miami

(food stage: 18 feet)

Until Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21. At 4:48 p.m. Wednesday, the stage was 17.6 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 22.3 feet by early Friday afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday afternoon.

The Missouri River at Waverly

(flood stage: 20 feet)

Until Sunday morning, Oct. 21. At 4:45 a.m. Thursday the stage was 19.6 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 23.0 feet by Friday morning and fall below flood stage by Saturday morning.
