Adventures in Libraryland: Marshall library's storytelling CD collection gets boost

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

For those of you who have been enjoying our storytelling CDs, I have good news.

I went to the National Storytelling Festival earlier this month and of course, I had to add to the library's collection (as well as mine). Our new additions include some international tellers as well as several that focus on the Southern part of our country. Feel free to stop by and browse.

Earlier this year, the library received a grant to replace our server, which is ancient (in computer years). Next week, we begin the procedure for that replacement. I'm assured that we will only have a short time when the computers will not be accessible but I'm not holding my breath. (It's kind of like saying "this will only take a minute" when trying to set up your DVD player.) Please bear with us as we complete this task.

Don't forget that the library pitch game takes place on Oct. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. Refreshments and prizes are provided. All are welcome to participate.

On beyond Google

I have an excellent recommendation for anyone looking for internet resouces on a specific topic. Go to http://www.ipl.org. IPL stands for internet public library and rather than offering books, it has listings of websites and other online resources categorized by subject. You don't want to miss this one!

Check it out

I'm pleased to announce that Marie Reeder will grace us with her presence next week and give a demonstration of her award-winning china painting techniques. Come to the library on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. for this special program.
