Elizabeth R. Ackelberry, 90, of Slater, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Slater United Methodist Church. Rev. Jess Spurgin and Rev. Pam Sebastian will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marion Sanders, Josh Monnig, Dale Hughes, Carl Weis, Salvador Martinez and Donald Conz. Organist Bethany Weiker will perform "One Day At a Time," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Wind Beneath My Wings." Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Slater Senior Center or Rehoboth Cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Dec. 12, 1916, in Loose Creek, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Agnes Schaefer Niekamp. On June 6, 1967, she married Kenneth M. "Jack" Ackelberry, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1990. She was a long-time Slater resident and attended Slater United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Harold Adams of Glasgow; two daughters, Roberta Knight and Glenetta Burks, both of Slater; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Schaefer and Louise Rustermeyer, and one brother, Henry Niekamp.
