After tying Diamond (17-25, 25-20) to begin pool play, the Lady Greyhounds dropped tilts against St. Mary's (25-15, 25-14) of Independence and Crest Ridge (25-12, 25-20).
However, in the bracket play opener, Sweet Springs notched a rare victory over the Saints, 25-19, 16-25, 25-14, before losing the rematch with Diamond, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23, in the trophy round.
Junior Stephanie Krause topped the Lady 'Hounds with 13 kills and 44 digs, with senior Laura Keesaer knocking down 11 shots and pulling up 36 -- to go along with serving 10 aces. Sophomores Katie Davidson and Kathleen Tyler assisted 34 of the team's 51 kills and sophomore Kristin Jones had nine kills and eight blocks.
Sweet Springs (5-17-1) plays today at Northwest of Hughesville.
