Russell Franklin Gabert, 82, of Marshall, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Southside Assembly of God in Marshall, with Rev. Cliff Cato and William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with military rites will be held in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born June 28, 1925, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Frank E. Gabert and Olivena Pearl Laughlin Gabert. On Dec. 3, 1943, he married Rosa Venita Perryman, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall all his life and was a 1943 graduate of Marshall High School. He served for three years as a construction engineer in the U.S. Army. He was a construction and ditching contractor for many years. He was a member of Southside Assembly of God.
Additional survivors include one son, Paul F. Gabert and his wife, Ronda, of Sumter, S.C.; one granddaughter, Julie Witt and her husband, Matt; four grandsons, Jonathan Gabert and his wife, Karen, David Gabert and his wife, Jessica, Bret Gabert and his wife, Joy, and Bart Gabert and his wife, Desiree; 10 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Kay Gabert MacLaughlin; and one nephew, Gabert Lee Porter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Stephen Gabert; and one sister, Ruth Aline Porter.
