Carl J. "Mike" Romine, 83, of Hanover, Ind., formerly of Saline County, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Ind.
Cremation. Memorial graveside services will be Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. at Slater City Cemetery, with Rev. Jess Spurgin officiating. Memorials are suggested to Gilliam United Methodist Church or American Kidney Foundation in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born June 5, 1924, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Carl and Rosie Taylor Romine. On Feb. 10, 1961, in Slater, he married Berneta "Bea" Bartshe, who preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 1984. On April 27, 1985, in Slater, he married Jessie Dobbins Ahrens, who survives of the home. He was a member of Gilliam United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department for 20 years, until his retirement.
Additional survivors include one son, Gary Romine of Slater; one stepson, John Ahrens of Madison; one grandson; one step-grandson; one step-granddaughter; and one sister, Mary Moore of Slater.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Romine.
