Volleyball/Santa Fe 2, Wellington 0

Wednesday, September 26, 2007
ALMA -- After a three-week absence, the return home was sweet Tuesday for the Santa Fe volleyball team.

And the outcome was indeed sweeter, too, for the Lady Chiefs: a 25-13, 25-19 sweep of I-70 Conference foe Wellington-Napoleon (1-8, 0-3 I-70). The last time it played in its own gym, on Sept. 4, Santa Fe was dropped in three sets by Crest Ridge.

The Lady Chiefs pounded the ball from all directions, it's 26 kills distributed evenly. Senior Liz Hinz had five spikes; junior Kylie Wagner, sophomore Lauren Aversman and freshman Molly Sander each put down four shots; and juniors Chelsea Geiselman, Joci Russell and Lauren Malan added three apiece.

Aversman served up four aces and Sander had three and 12 assists.

The Lady Chiefs will play Saturday in the Warrensburg Tournament.
