Iona Maude Valiquette, 94, of Slater, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer, with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Anderson, Wayne Anderson, Leon Sykes, Rick Hookham, Jim Gochenour and Joey Valiquette. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to Enon Baptist Church in Enon.
Born July 19, 1913, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Roy P. and Blanche Fisher Stillwell. On Feb. 5, 1958, in El Paso, Texas, she married Arthur J. Valiquette, who preceded her in death on July 13, 1968. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. She was a retired calculations operator with Standard Oil Co. in Independence and later worked at BHA in Slater for 12 years. She had resided in Slater since moving from Independence in 1976.
She is survived by one son, Allen Valiquette of Slater; four grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Pearson of Laguna Woods, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
