A 36-year-old Malta Bend woman was charged with class C felony second degree domestic assault Saturday, Sept. 1, after a sheriff's deputy and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper investigated an assault report.

According to the deputy's report, the woman allegedly cut a 44-year-old Malta Bend man on the arm with a knife and hit him on the head with a coffee mug. The man received medical treatment at the scene and at a local hospital.

The woman was later released after posting a $5,000 bond with a condition that she stay away from the victim, according to on-line court information.

Arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 5.
