Howard E. Beeler, 72, of Independence, formerly of Saline County, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at his home.
Cremation. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Walter Admire officiating. Burial will be held in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with military rites. Memorials may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital or American Cancer Society. Born Oct. 27, 1934, in Slater, he was the son of the late William Edward Beeler and Marjorie Crawford Beeler. He had lived in the Independence area the last 35 years and was an electrician for Lipton Tea Company in Independence for those 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Edward D. Simmons of Marshall and Lloyd May of the state of Georgia; two daughters, Sharon Rushing of Branson and Teresa Kesterson of Richmond; three stepsons, Billy Joe Simmons of Marshall, Mark Hord of Richmond and Myron Johnson of Gilliam; three stepdaughters, Penny Harper, Barbara Harper and Paula Hodges, all of Marshall; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Donald Beeler.
