Emmett Lee Smith, 81, of rural Marshall, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Saline County. Born Aug. 22, 1925, in Elmwood, he was the son of the late Hugh William Smith and Cora Elizabeth Lynch Smith. On Nov. 16, 1951, he married Betty Louise Hartley, who survives of the home. He had lived in the Marshall area most of his life and was a member of Marshall Church of the Nazarene. He retired as area supervisor after 39 years of service with the Missouri State Highway Department.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Lee Smith and his wife, Susan, of Arrow Rock, and Randall Lynn Smith and his wife, Pam, of Van Alstyne, Texas; two daughters, Carol Louise Smith and her husband, Al Simmons, of Marshall and Sharon Kay Benedick and her husband, Paul, of rural Marshall; seven grandchildren, Tyler Smith and his wife, Karla, Chad Smith and his wife, Maria, Torrie Levins and her husband, James, Ashlynn Smith, Caleb Smith, Cole Simmons and Leah Simmons; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Clayton Lee; one sister, Fern Hardinger of Raytown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Smith, Cameron Smith, James Edwin Smith and Ralph Hugh Smith; and two sisters, Irene Smith and Dorothy Fonville.
