Bond set at $300,000 for Marshall man charged with assault of six-week-old infant

A Marshall man was charged with class A felony first-degree assault following an investigation into injuries suffered by his six-week-old child.

Ronald Landis Trower, 36, was being held Tuesday, Aug. 14, in lieu of a $300,000 cash or surety bond, according to court records.

Trower was arrested by Marshall police Monday after the child was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital and later transferred by air ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

The child had suffered a head injury and several newly fractured ribs in addition to rib fractures that were suffered a week or more ago, according to the police report.
