Dorothy J. Bertrand, 78, of Sweet Springs, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs with Rev. Keith Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Higginsville with Rev. William Roy Bertrand officiating. Born June 15, 1929, in Carthage, she was the daughter of the late Carl Rose and Georgia Chaney Rose. On Aug. 13, 1957, she married Roy W. Bertrand, who survives of the home. She had lived in Sweet Springs since moving from Liberty in 1988, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. She was a graduate of North Kansas City High School and attended nursing school in St. Joseph. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years, working in hospitals and nursing homes. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Additional survivors include her nine children, Wilfred Bertrand of Stafford, Tex., Kenneth Bertrand of Riverton, Wyo., William Bertrand of Concord, Neb., Sidney Davis of Diamond, Joyce Malone of Waterbury, Neb., Carl Bertrand of Grifton, N.C., Kevin Bertrand of Kansas City, David Bertrand of Clinton and Richard Bertrand of Sweet Springs; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Rose of the state of Missouri and Charles Rose of the state of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
