A benefit dinner will be held Saturday, July 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a dance following from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Marshall VFW Hall on West Yerby.

Free will donations will be accepted. Proceeds from the dinner, dance and silent auction will benefit Darrell Baker.

Dinner will include beef or pork, baked beans, slaw, cheesy potatoes, dessert and a drink.

Miami R-1 school district sets tax hearing for Aug. 14

The Miami R-1 school district will hold its tax hearing Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 6:45 p.m.

At that time, citizens may be heard on the property tax rate to be set by the Miami R-1 Board of Education.

Current assessed valuation in the district on real estate and personal property is listed at $8,022,747, according to district officials.
