Car hits MSHP patrol car in Miami, brief chase ensues

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, a two-car accident involving a patrol car resulted in two subjects being taken into custody on Tuesday, July 24.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The 2005 Pontiac, driven by James Shelton, 40, of Little Rock, Ark., backed up and intentionally stuck the patrol car, police said. The location of the accident was on Third Street in Miami.

A short pursuit was initiated and two subjects were taken into custody without further incident, the report stated.

Both vehicles received minor damage. Shelton was not wearing his safety device. Injury information for the accident was unavailable, according to the report.
