Leroy W. Leimkuehler, 81, of Blue Springs, died on July 13, 2007, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007, at Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorial contributions can be made to Timothy Lutheran Church or The ALS Association (Alzheimer's). Arrangements are being handled by Webb-Freer Funeral Home of Blue Springs.
Born August 19, 1925, in Saline City, he was the son of Edward P. Leimkuehler and Emma Bender Leimkuehler. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of the National LSM Association, American Legion Post 191 of Marshall and lifetime member of the Blue Springs VFW. He was retired from Prudential Insurance Company, where he worked for 20 years in the Sedalia District. He married Elaine Grapperhaus on June 3, 1949, in Slater. He had resided in Saline County most of his life, moving to the Blue Springs area in 1991. He was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church of Blue Springs.
Survivors include his wife Elaine; one daughter, Lisa Wood, and her husband, Jim, of Blue Springs; one grandson, Nathaniel Wood of Blue Springs; three brothers, Edward Leimkuehler of Independence, Irvin Leimkuehler of Harrisonville and Eugene Leimhuehler of Marshall; also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Burks, Mae Thornton and Olinda Kiso; two brothers, Clarence Leimkuehler and Leland Leimkuehler; and two sisters infancy.
