2 injured in separate accidents

Monday, July 9, 2007
Two separate weekend accidents left a Michigan woman with minor injuries and a Blackburn man with moderate injuries.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol accident reports, Mary Gutierrez, 57, of Carleton, Mich., was driving westbound on Interstate 70 at Route J when her 1997 Ford stuck a deer on Friday, July 6.

Gutierrez reported no injuries but her passenger, Rae Drewek, 59, of Pinckney, Mich., sustained minor injuries and was taken to I-70 Medical Center by ambulance.

Both driver and occupant were wearing their seat belts, police said. The Ford sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

On Sunday, July 8, Larry Mueller, 62, of Blackburn, was driving eastbound on Route T when he failed to negotiate a curve on his 1996 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned, police said.

Mueller sustained moderate injuries and was transported to I-70 Medical Center by ambulance.

Mueller's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was left at the scene per owner's request, the report said.
