Charles Thomas "Tom" Davis, 81, of Marshall, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, with Fr. Tom Alber officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial with military rites will be held in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 5, 1926, in Keytesville, he was the son of the late Clarence M. Davis and Dora Adams Davis. On April 23, 1949, he married Rose Cromley, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was retired as superintendent of electrical distribution for Marshall Municipal Utilities, previously working as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 876 in Marshall. He was very active in fast pitch softball, serving as pitcher for 37 years and a Mid-Mo Area Team member of Columbia Nowell's Fast Pitch Softball Team which captured the state championship. He was inducted into the Missouri Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 2646 and American Legion Post 191 in Marshall.
Additional survivors include one son, Charles Thomas "Chuck" Davis of Marshall; one brother, Clarence M. Davis of Springfield; one sister, Caroline Davis of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane A. Davis, Billie Neudeck and Thelma D. Busch.
