Edward J. Reis, 89, of Marshall, formerly of Slater, and Florissant, MO, died Friday, June 29, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Tom Alber, newly assigned to St. Peter to assist Rev. Kevin Gormley, will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Cremation. Burial will be at a later date with his beloved wife in Florissant, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fitzgibbon Hospital in care of the Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home.
Born January 8, 1918 in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Edward I. Reis and Louise M. Beck Reis. On August 15, 1942, he married Betty Borah and she preceded him in death on April 19, 1999. He was a resident of Florissant, MO for many years and was employed at General Steel Industries in Granite City, IL for 30 years. After semi-retiring, he worked in the electronics department for Dillard's. He was a very active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Florissant and was proud of his role with their Ushers Club. He moved to Slater in 2000 and to Marshall in 2005.
Survivors include six sons; Ed Reis of Marshall, Jim Reis and wife Sue of Forsyth, MO, Bob Reis of Hazelwood, MO, John Reis and wife Lilly of Springlake, NC, Jerry Reis and wife Kerry of South Lake, TX, and Rich Reis of Dallas, TX; his brother-in-law, Gordon R. Carpenter of Farmers Branch, TX; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
