Dorothy L. Smith, 81, of Macon, formerly of Slater, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Columbia Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at the Gospel Center Church in Macon. Rev. Jim Palmisano will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. A second funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Gospel Center Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born December 25, 1925, in Osceola, she was the daughter of the late Mike and Florence Drake Houston. On November 11, 1944, in Marshall she married Luther E. Smith. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2004. She was a member of the Gospel Center Church in Macon. She worked at Slater Garment Co. and Butterfield Youth Services in Marshall prior to moving to Macon.
She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Sparks of Bevier and Elaine Allred of Clarence; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; a brother, Donald Houston of Richmond; and a sister, Edna Shepard of Kansas City.
