Alice McAlear, 87, of Marshall, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at First Christian Church in Marshall, Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Visitation will be held at the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday until time of service. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
She was born June 26, 1919, in Saline County, in the Mt. Olive community, the daughter of Edgar B. Marsh and Minnie LeFaivre Marsh. On Feb. 21, 1943, she married Robert L. "Bob" Alexander, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1971. She was married Oct. 9, 1982, to William "Bill" McAlear, who survives. She lived in Marshall most of her life, and was a member of First Christian Church. She was a member of Christian Women's Fellowship, and taught 7th grade Sunday School at the church for many years. She worked at Hartley Furniture Galleries for 12 years, retiring in 1984.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Doyne Alexander of Grain Valley, Lin Alexander of Marshall and Nancy Kelly and husband, Jerry, of North Kansas City; two step-children, Georgann DeMoss of Marshall and John McAlear and wife, Sally, of Springfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Marsh of Holden; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; three brothers, Charles Marsh, James Albert Marsh and Wilbur Marsh.
