Donald William Rust, 82, of Valley Center, Kan., formerly of Marshall, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, with William W. Harlow and Charlie Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Oct. 3, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan., he was the son of the late Henry Rust and Jennie Boggs Rust. He was a 1942 graduate of Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kan. On March 1, 1946, he married Marion Earlene Birdsong, who survives of the home. He had lived in the Valley Center area since 2004, moving from Marshall, and was manager of Cross Roads Motel in Iola, Kan., retiring in 1988. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall and since moving to Valley Center he attended Westwood Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kan. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in Iola.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Linda Walter and husband, David, of Norfolk, Neb., and Kathy Lacen and husband, Russell, of Ada, Okla.; five grandchildren, Christina Brown, Tonya Sudduth, Trent Walter, Natalie Haney and Tara Brown; six great-grandchildren; one brother, John Ivan Rust of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
