Monday, June 4, 2007
A Marshall woman and a Malta Bend man were injured Saturday, June 2, in a two-car accident on Interstate 70, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report.

The accident occurred about 11:48 p.m., patrol officials said, one mile west of county road 211.

The accident occurred as a 2000 Toyota driven by Diane Dudenhoeffer, 49, of Marshall, overtook and struck the rear of a 1993 Saturn driven by Richard Bargfrede, 26, of Malta Bend, causing Bargfrede to lose control, police said.

Bargfrede's vehicle exited the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned. He sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital. His Saturn was totaled and towed from the scene by Betty's Towing of Sweet Springs.

Edith Twilling, 76, of Marshall, was the passenger in Dudenhoeffer's vehicle. Twilling sustained minor injuries and was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital. Dudenhoeffer's vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was towed from the scene by Cadwell's Tow.

According to the highway patrol, Dudenhoeffer was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving.
