John King Bramble, 84, of Glasgow, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 21, 2007, at Bramble Hall of Glasgow High School in Glasgow, with Rev. Janet Deneke officiating. Burial was at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Mike Brand, David Brand, Melvin Haskamp, John Haskamp, Steve Strodtman and Mitch Strodtman were pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to Glasgow United Methodist Church in care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 112 Market St., Glasgow MO 65254.
He was born at home, July 29, 1922, in Marshall, to Charles S. and Oleta M. King Bramble. He graduated valedictorian of Glasgow High School in 1940. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in agriculture in 1947. He was a member of Glasgow United Methodist Church, Glasgow Legion Post 211 and the VFW. He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He was a generous benefactor of Bramble Hall at Glasgow High School and many other projects and causes in the Glasgow community.
Survivors include two nephews and one niece.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Bramble; and his sister, Jane Crim.
