Warrant issued for Slater woman suspected of parental kidnapping

Monday, May 21, 2007
A warrant was issued Friday, May 18, for a Slater woman on suspicion of parental kidnapping, according to a news release from the Saline County Sheriff's Department.

Bobby Jean Winters, 38, is suspected by law enforcement authorities of leaving Saline County with her son, who is currently under the jurisdiction of the Saline County Circuit Court Juvenile Division, supervised by the Children's Division.

A representative of the Children's Division contacted Sheriff's deputies Friday to report that Winters was suspected of having left the county with her son after the child did not show up for school, according to the report.

Winters reportedly left the county driving a gray 1991 Pontiac, deputies said.

Sheriff Wally George said Monday, May 21, that the vehicle was recovered Saturday by law enforcement officials in the Poplar Bluff area.

Parental kidnapping is a class D felony.
