Farrell Gravitt, 59, of Independence, died unexpectedly on May 13, 2007. Cremation. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Carson-Speaks Chapel. He was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Marshall. He graduated from Raytown High School and attended Rockhurst College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, where he was a member of the Special Forces. His family always came first as he demonstrated by being an excellent father, husband, brother and son. He served as a funeral escort for many years at George C. Carson & Sons Chapels. More recently he worked at Gravitt & Gravitt Home Repair, Blue Springs Painting, and had been a department supervisor at Home Depot and Sears. He loved riding motorcycles and spending time with this family. He had also written six books.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lois Gravitt, of the home; a daughter, Robin Swain and husband, Branden, of Bridge City, Texas; a son, Rick Trieb and wife, Kelly, of Blue Springs; his mother, Mildred Gravitt, of Grandview; sister Gwen Royalty of Grandview; a brother, Paul Gravitt and wife, Wanda, of Grandview; a sister, Beverly Bianchi, of Louisburg, Kan.; his mother-in-law Ella Theel and family, of Alma, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Gravitt; brother, Bill Gravitt; sister, Marilyn Gravitt; grandson, Tyler Trieb; and grandmother, Opal Dirksmeyer.
