Flood report/May 10

According to the National Weather Service, a flood wave will move down the Missouri River over the next week and aggravate the current flooding conditions across the area. Local rivers and streams that flow into the river may back up with excess water. Areas affected include Waverly, Miami, Brunswick and Arrow Rock.

Missouri River at Waverly (flood stage is 20 feet):

-- At 3:45 a.m. Thursday the stage was 27.1 feet;

-- Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast;

-- The river is expected to gradually fall.

Missouri River at Miami (flood stage is 18 feet):

-- At 5:05 p.m. Wednesday the stage was 29.1 feet;

-- Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast;

-- The river is expected to continue rising to near 29.2 feet by Thursday morning then begin falling.

Missouri River at Glasgow (flood stage is 25 feet):

-- At 3:45 a.m. thursday the stage was 33.6 feet;

-- Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast;

-- The river is expected to continue rising to near 35.5 feet by early Sunday morning then begin falling.

Blackwater River near Blue Lick (flood stage is 24 feet):

-- At 4:45 am thursday the stage was 26.0 feet;

-- Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast;

-- The river is expected to continue to fall to below flood stage by this afternoon.
