David W. Guthrie, 58, of Marshall, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall. Rev. Rich Shugert and Rev. Randy Shannon will officiate. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dean Nelson, Jerry Seckington, Mark McFarland, Caleb Griffitt, Jim Merchant and Terry Pointer. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Bullington, Travis Bullington, Elmer Zimmerman and Jim Latimer. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the David W. Guthrie Youth Endowment Fund to benefit youth of Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Born July 31, 1948, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Ray Guthrie and Lila Huston Guthrie Bridges, who survives of Slater. On August 9, 1987, he married Karen Marsh; she survives of the home. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, where he had served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, a member of the youth council and Men's Fellowship. He served nine years on the Slater city council. He was employed at the Marshall Habilitation Center, the past 20 years as a plant maintenance engineer. He was a 1966 graduate of Slater High School and a 1970 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Also surviving are three sons, Michael Guthrie of Chesterfield; Staff Sgt. Matthew Guthrie, USAF, stationed in Spokane Wash.; and Justin Halterman of Slater; a daughter, Sandi McNeil and her husband, Sean, of Kelso, Wash.; three grandchildren, Evie McNeil, John McNeil and Tabitha McNeil; a brother, Charlie Guthrie and his wife, Brenda, of Slater; a sister, Virginia Jacobi and her husband, Art, of Marshall; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Truman J. Bridges.
