Check It Out/Internment exhibit a success, more renovation work to do

Wednesday, April 18, 2007
What a wonderful response we had to the traveling exhibit about World War II internment camps! It was the biggest turnout for an event I've seen since I got here more than two years ago. More than 120 people viewed the exhibit and 35 people participated in the fascinating panel discussion presented by Paul Gieringer and Marvin Wilhite. I am so pleased and want to thank everyone who attended. I will continue to incorporate history in future programs at the library.

The dust has settled a bit here at the library in regards to our "facelift" but some of it is still in process. The heating/cooling units have been installed as well as the ductwork. Hopefully, the final touches on that project will be completed this week. The construction of the genealogy room will take a little bit longer. The drywall is now all hung and will soon be mudded and primed for painting. Once we have all the materials moved into the new genealogy room, the meeting room will be open for use again. Our goal date for completion is May 1. Watch this spot for more announcements.
