Hattie A. Berger, 82, of Slater, formerly of Gilliam, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 6, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Harold Young will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery, with Gene Stanfield, Ron Smith, Don Stallman, Daryl Hubbard, Dale Stallman and Phillip Adams serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to Big Bend Retreat or Howard County Hospice in care of the funeral home.
Born Aug. 6, 1924, in Clinton, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Charles and Evalina Hendren Wren. On May 1, 1943, in Glasgow, she married David F. "Fritz" Berger; he preceded her in death on July 13, 1987. She was a member of Gilliam Baptist Church. She had formerly lived in rural Gilliam before moving to Slater.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Stallman of Glasgow and Teresa Smith of Branson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Evalyn Hartung of Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, David Wren of Galena.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; and a son, David Berger.
