Charles J. (Googie) Mabrey, 65, of rural Napton, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery in Cooper County. Memorials may be made to the Saline Animal League or American Cancer Society. Born Feb. 16, 1942, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Cecil J. Mabrey and Helen Ward Mabrey. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and retired from the city of Marshall after nearly 30 years of service.

Survivors include three brothers, Sonny Mabrey of Bentonville, Ark., Ollie Mabrey of Ceres, Calif., and Terry Mabrey of Marshall; three sisters, Laura Toy of Lamont, Calif., Shirley Gotmer of Marshall and Carolyn Root of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Mabrey and Kenny Mabrey; and one sister, Helen "Baby" Moreau.
