The committee, made up of teachers and staff at Malta Bend, presented their request after attending the Missouri State Teachers Association salary committee meeting in Warrensburg where they received information on what increases they were eligible for.
The committee asked for a $500 base pay increase, a two-step extension on the ladder system, an additional $500 for Master's degrees and a $100 increase to the health stipend to bring it to $200. The committee also asked for increased sick days and an increase in extra duty pay.
The increases would cost the district an estimated $59,000 committee members said.
Board President Doug Clemons told the committee that the board would consider it and discuss the issue at a later date.
In other business, the board approved the senior class trip to Manitou Springs, Colo. The group of 10 students and two sponsors will leave on Sunday, May 6, and return on Friday, May 11. The class plans to hold a dinner at the school to raise funds for the trip and send a letter to Mid-Missouri Ethanol to request a donation to help with the trip.
Superintendent Ryan Nowlin reported that he had met with a number of companies about door replacements at the school. He has currently received two bids for the job and will wait until he receives more before making a decision.
Nowlin also reported the purchase of a three-year-old scoreboard from the University of Missouri for $355.
The board then heard a report of donations from Mid-Missouri Energy which donated $400 to the Malta Bend FFA, $446 to the PTO and over $2,500 to the school in general.
