Marie Gerding Stonner, 91, of rural Miami, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshal.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Miami United Methodist Church. Rev. Jan Schnepf will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. Born Jan. 16, 1916, in New Franklin, she was the daughter of the late John R. Gerding and Emma Dickmann Gerding. She was a graduate of Boonville High School and Chillicothe Business School. On Jan. 10, 1942, she married John Stonner who preceded her in death on June 29, 2005. She had lived in rural Miami since her marriage. She was a devoted member of Miami United Methodist Church where she was the organist for 63 years. She was very active in the Miami community and was a member of United Methodist Women, Miami Community Club and Friends of Miami.
Survivors include three daughters, Parilee Askew and husband, Jim, of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Jo Brown and husband, Jim, of St. Louis, and Phyllis Miles and husband, Gary, of Rolla; six grandchildren, Jamie Askew, Jennifer Loper, Deena Little, Jon Brown, Travis Miles and Hilary Miles; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Little, Adam Little and Lucy Loper; one brother, Leroy Gerding of Boonville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Wortman, Erna Biesmeyer and Esther Wilmsmeyer, and one brother, John Gerding.
