William Fred "Sonny" Bargfrede, 73, of Marshall, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. John Rieks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born July 24, 1933, in Mt. Leonard, he was the son of the late William Martin Bargfrede and Thelma Lane Bargfrede. In 1959, he married Marylin Buford, who preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 1960. On April 5, 1964, he married Sharon Martin Rieks, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and had worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for seven years and for Cargill Feeds for 30 years. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he volunteered much of his time after his retirement.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Pam Garner of Marshall, Sherrie Riley of Marshall and Dorothy Tresler of Kansas City; two sons, William Fred "Billy" Bargfrede Jr. of Fayette and Richard Bargfrede of Moberly; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Bargfrede of Marshall; one half-brother, Roy Douglas Johnson of Marshall; two step-sisters, Marjorie Kirk of New York and Nellie Geisinger of Hodge; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Ernie Johnson and William Roy Johnson; and two grandsons.
